### Liman (Educerie için yazılmış özgün metin)
Babam bana limanı gösterirdi, her sabah aynı parmakla, aynı yöne. Orada bir gemi vardı, derdi. Ben o gemiyi hiç görmedim.
Yıllar sonra o limana gittim. Vinçler vardı, beton vardı, bir de tabela: ÖZEL BÖLGE, GİRİLMEZ. Parmağımı kaldırdım, aynı yöne.
Yanımda kimse yoktu. Gösterebileceğim kimse yoktu. Ama gösterdim.
Example 1 — Building a thesis
Yönlendirici soru: Şair, yapı ve zaman kullanımıyla anlatıcının geçmişle ilişkisini nasıl kuruyor?
Three attempts:
Zayıf. "Bu şiir babasını kaybeden bir kişiyi anlatıyor."
Subject matter — and it asserts a death the poem never states.
Daha iyi ama yine zayıf. "Şair yineleme, imge ve serbest nazım kullanarak anlatıcının geçmişle ilişkisini gösterir."
A list that would fit almost any poem.
Tez. "Şiir, aynı jesti üç kez yineleyerek anlamı nesnede değil jestin kendisinde kurar: gösterilen gemi hiç görülmez, liman ise erişilemez hâle gelir, ama gösterme eylemi sürer. Böylece yapı, mirasın nesnelerde değil alışkanlıklarda taşındığını duyurur."
Why the third works. It is arguable, specific to this poem, and names a structural pattern rather than a device. Everything the essay does can be tested against it.
Example 2 — Reading the Turkish verb system as evidence
This is the observation that distinguishes a strong Turkish A answer, and it is invisible in translation.
Why this earns criterion B at the top band. The observation is grammatical, precise, and available only in Turkish — the English aspect system does not mark the contrast this sharply. The paragraph then converts the grammar into an interpretation about inheritance. That is device → effect → meaning, executed on the most language-specific evidence the poem offers.
Example 3 — Silence and the withheld word
What earns marks here. Two silences are read — the unnamed death and the unverified ship — and the typographic intrusion of the sign is treated as a change of register, not merely as an image. The register point is the sharpest: one line of bureaucratic Turkish in an otherwise intimate poem, and the essay says what that contrast does.
Example 4 — The same poem, handled badly
Şair yineleme kullanmıştır. "Aynı yöne" ifadesi iki kez tekrarlanır, bu da vurgu yapar. Şiir serbest nazımla yazılmıştır, bu da akıcılık sağlar. Şairin dili sadedir. Sonuç olarak şiir etkileyicidir.
Four failures.
Edebî sanat sıralamak. Three features named, none developed. Criterion B rewards depth, not coverage.
"Vurgu yapar." Emphasis of what, and to what end? The claim restates the repetition rather than interpreting it.
"Akıcılık sağlar." Free verse does not automatically produce flow. If you cannot say what the form does here, do not mention it.
"Etkileyicidir." A verdict with no criterion. Effective at what, on whom?
Note what this answer never notices: the tense shift, the withheld word, the sign. All three are on the page, and all three are worth more than every device it names.
